Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative Announces Virtual Webinar Series

B.Stark | January 5, 2023

The Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative, a subcontractor to the Beef Checkoff, in partnership with NCBA's Nutrition Seminar program, is pleased to announce the launch of a virtual webinar series aimed at reaching influential healthcare professionals in the Northeast region. By engaging with this audience, we can effectively broaden their knowledge base about the benefits of lean beef so they can translate key messages on to patients. The series, which kicks off January 26th, 2023, will offer physicians and dietitians the opportunity to earn continuing education credits while learning about beef nutrition, myths, farm life and the latest research on lean beef as well as its role in a sustainable eating pattern for all life stages.

The first webinar of the series, titled “Children Aren’t Just Smaller Adults: Making Every Bite Count When Nourishing the Younger Generation”, will be presented by registered dietitian nutritionist and author, Lauren Manaker, MS, RDN, LD, CLEC. In the webinar, our presenter will shed light on the most recent 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, uncover key nutrients for stages of rapid growth and development such as iron, zinc and choline, and arm healthcare providers with practical tips and messages to communicate to patients/caregivers.

Additional webinars are also being planned for May and August of this year. In May, an Oklahoma-based registered dietitian nutritionist farmer and rancher will team up with a PA beef producer for a myth-busting presentation and virtual farm tour.

The webinar in August will feature a registered dietitian nutritionist and chef duo that will provide a closer look at the science behind introducing beef to infants as a complementary first food with practical solutions that healthcare professionals can use in practice.

All webinars are being offered to healthcare professionals at no cost. Register for the webinar on January 26th, at 1PM EST, here. Registration for the webinars in May and August will open soon.

Please contact Beth Stark, RDN, LDN Director of Channel Marketing and Nutrition Outreach at [email protected] to learn more about this series or to be added to our subscriber list for webinar updates and more.

The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill.  The Checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products.  States may retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national Checkoff program, subject to USDA Approval.
